From Jerry’s Desk, September 2014

Hello – I hope this message finds you and your family doing well. Labor Day and back to school are now behind us, and we’re just a few short weeks away from Election Day. I’m working hard both in Washington and at home to do what’s right for you and for our nation.

I’m also fighting to protect our way of life here at home: I submitted a bill this month that would keep any federal money from going towards the BDCP or the twin tunnels that would carry our water south. I’m encouraged that the EPA agrees that the BDCP is a bad plan based on bad science, and I look forward to helping figure out a real solution to our water issues. I’m pleased that my colleagues John Garamendi and Ami Bera signed onto my bill.

I’m also proud to say I brought home about $1.4 million dollars in federal funding for Stockton Metropolitan Airport. I asked the Federal Aviation Administration to give the airport this money to update its tarmac. The upgrades will mean more airlines can bring passenger services to our area.

When I was back at home this month, I was pleased to attend this year’s Heart of Oakley Festival. It’s the second year for the event, and it just keeps getting better. Lots of booths and vendors, and a great day for the whole family. While I was in Oakley I also hosted a Congress At Your Corner so I could hear directly from the folks I represent about what’s on their minds.

I can’t do my job without hearing from folks about what’s important – and that especially includes you – please don’t hesitate to keep in touch with me, and I promise to keep you updated on my work on your behalf.
